Trend to Try: Belting Scarves

I don't know who created this trend, but I sure wish they hadn't. Whatevs. I'm here only to report - not to judge.

Lately, I have been seeing scarves belted EVERYWHERE. Personally, it's a little too Christina-Aguilera-wearing-a-scarf-as-a-shirt to me. But it is different. So, that's...something...? Maybe it will grown on me.

To do this trend, wear a colored scarf that does not blend in with your top. Cinch with a skinny belt at the smallest part of your waist (either you ribcage or right below it).

Fantasia Barrino won the last season of American Idol that I actually watched. The was years and years ago. I know who one this past season, but never watched an episode - not even the funny bad performers! Anywhoo...

Fantasia hit the Soul Train Awards red carpet in a dress strikingly similar to the Silence & Noise Strong Shoulder Dress, $58.00, available at Urban Outfitters. I am always a fan of working the high and low (hello - she paired the dress with some insane Louis Vuitton shoes!). I'm kind of over the big shoulder thing, but hey... she looks like she's having fun!

Christian Siriano x Payless = Christian Siriano for Payless (holiday!)

While the Christian Siriano for Payless line has disappointed me in the past (due to the fact that Payless seriously edits down Siriano's amazing designs for mass-market), the new holiday collection has some bright spots. I think these Micola Zipper Flats, $29.99, are quite nice.

The flat comes in two options - this black/white/red flower print (left) and a shimmery gold. Both a finished off with an interesting zipper at the toe. Maybe to adjust to your own level of toe-cleavage comfort?

Recent Purchase: UES (Upper Echelon Shoes) Nise Sneaker

I think I finally found a pair of sneakers that speak to my personality! I thought the only pair of sneakers I'd wear anymore are my running shoes, but when I came across this pair of Nise sneakers by UES (Upper Echelon Shoes) on Gilt Fuse, the gaudy old lady living inside me fr-eak-ed out!

After some Google-ing, I found that UES was featured in Elle and Teen Vogue online (Miley Cyrus is a fan!)... among tons of fashion blogs as well. They are definitely not for timid girls. However, I can definitely see myself pairing these with a super simple pared-down outfit.
